Terms of service

Last updated 13 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Starlight (legal entity name to be added) (“we”, “us”) covering the Starlight app, this website and the Lyric Studio (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

Who can use Starlight

You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and able to form a binding contract. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. Don’t use the Service if you were previously suspended from it.

Your account

Give accurate information, keep your password safe, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. You can delete your account at any time (see Delete your account).

Your content

You own what you create. When you post a take, comment, profile or creator pack, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process (for example to adjust loudness and convert formats), reproduce and display it in the Service, and to let other users play it and sing duets with it as your settings allow. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that other users have lawfully made as part of a duet credit (which keep your name or show it as removed) and backups that are erased on schedule.

You promise that you have the rights to post what you post. In particular:

Songs, lyrics and your own backing tracks

Starlight doesn’t supply songs. You choose the audio you import and the lyrics you type or sync, and you are responsible for having the right to use them. Using them privately on your own device is your choice; sharing them publicly may require a licence from the rights holders.

Rules

You agree to follow our Community guidelines and not to: break the law; harass, threaten or impersonate anyone; post hateful, sexual, violent or exploitative content; spam; manipulate points, ratings or rankings (including with multiple accounts or scripted activity); probe, scrape or disrupt the Service; or try to access other people’s accounts or data.

Copyright and repeat infringers

We respond to valid copyright notices under our copyright policy. Reported content is removed or disabled while we review it. We will suspend accounts of users who are repeat infringers: three active copyright strikes lead to suspension.

Moderation

We can remove content, limit features, or suspend or end accounts that break these terms or the guidelines, or that put people or the Service at risk. Where we can, we’ll tell you why. Contact [email protected] if you think we made a mistake.

Creator points

Points reward creators when others sing their packs. They are an in-app score only: they have no cash value, aren’t property, and aren’t redeemable unless we say so in writing. We may adjust, withhold or reverse points that result from fraud, abuse or errors.

Our rights

The Service, including its software, design and branding, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, limited, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. Open-source components are covered by their own licences, listed in the app’s Licenses screen.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time, and we aim to give notice of significant changes. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”; we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and recordings should be backed up by you before you rely on them.

Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated here and are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as ownership, disclaimers and liability) will survive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the company is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and courts there have jurisdiction, except that consumers keep any mandatory rights in the country where they live.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; if the changes are material we’ll notify you before they apply. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept them. Contact: [email protected], Starlight (legal entity name to be added), Postal address to be added.
