Common questions

My microphone is connected but the recording is silent

In the app open Record → No sound? for a guided check. Make sure Starlight has microphone permission, that the right input is selected under Settings, and try the other sample rate. Re-plug USB mics firmly. On Android, some phones route audio to the headset jack only when a mic is detected: unplug and re-plug it, then re-open Record.

My voice sounds late against the music

Run Record → Calibrate latency in a quiet room, holding the phone mic next to the speaker. Starlight measures the delay and trims it from every take. You can also nudge a take earlier or later on the Mix screen.

I hear an echo or feedback while I sing

Use wired headphones. Live monitoring is disabled on speakers to prevent feedback, and Bluetooth headphones add noticeable delay, so wired is best for singing.

How do I add lyrics?

Open a track → Lyrics, then import an .lrc file or open the Sync editor, paste the words and tap along. You can also do this on a computer in the Lyric Studio, save it to your account, and import it in the app.

What formats can I export?

MP3, M4A (AAC) and WAV. Open a take from your Library, adjust the mix, then choose Export & share.

My imported song won’t play

Starlight accepts MP3, M4A/AAC, WAV, OGG and FLAC (OGG is Android only). Files protected by DRM, such as many downloads from streaming services, can’t be imported.

How do I report a take, comment or profile?

Open it and tap Report. To report copyright infringement see our copyright page.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Me → Delete account. Or on the web: Delete your account. It permanently removes your profile, takes and everything else tied to your account.
